Make your pet officially part of the family by giving them their own Christmas stocking that they’ll treasure for years to come. Okay, maybe they we don’t know if your pet will treasure a stocking but they will love what you put inside the stocking, right? I created a dog bone shaped stocking for a dog and a fish shaped stocking for a cat. After sewing these very simple shaped stockings, I added each pet’s name to their stocking using Slick Fabric Paint.
You can create whatever shaped stocking you like by sketching the image onto felt with a marker. Then, fold the felt over so there are two layers and cut out both layers at the same time with scissors. Sew around ¾ of the perimeter, leaving the top open and turn. Snip the curves to help them turn more easily. Cut a 1” x 6” strip of felt, fold in half and sew to the top of the stocking to make a loop to hang the stocking.
Add doodles, names, or “wood” and “meow” to the stockings using fabric paint. You can even put your pet’s pawprint on the stocking!
